Advanced Typography- Activity Booklet

This is an activity booklet focused for children in grades 3-6. The first image is the cover page. The images that follow are some of my favorite spreads.

Image Methodology- Critical Mass

We each had to choose one of the Amendments. I picked the First Amendment which protects the right to freedom of religion and freedom of expression. Only the first four were due for the final critique but I included some of my drafts. I have also included the cover page which is the first image below.

Image Methodology- Document

Every student was assigned a letter. My letter was "U". For the first image I used colorful post its. For the last three images I drew different designs with highlighters then scanned and edited it in Photoshop. I really liked the outcome of this assignment. I like how united every image looks. Also the highlighter's colors really pop when a black background is added.

Image Methodology- Transformations

By scanning in multiple objects into Photoshop I created a group of images. The objects used for this project were a cigarette pack, matches, a nail filer, an image of a diamond, and an image of blush.

Graphic Design II- Kitchen of Meaning

Lexicon was my word. The definition of lexicon is a reference book containing words and their definitions. I decided to create a Kitchen of Meaning Menu. I incorporated the list of words assigned to the other students into my design. Each word represents a type of food. Instead of simply writing down its definition, I defined it but made each definition sound like a type of food. I really like this project, but am definitely going to re due it for aesthetic purposes.

Typography I- Type Specimen

Each student was allowed to pick a typeface. I choice Calibri because I liked it's simple san-serif look. Also we were only allowed to select one color. At first, I had selected red but it seemed like everyone else in the class had choice that color as well, so I changed it to this bright lime green.

The typeface shown here is known as Calibri. The first spread shows how Calibri looks in Regular, Bold, Italic, and Italic Bold.

This spread shows hows Calibri looks when messing around with the kerning and leading.

This final spread shows how Calibri looks when the text is flushed left, right, centered, or fully justified.

Typography I- Design Culture Now

This poster's concept needed to portray that the artists' works some how tie in together. Which is why I have choicen to make each paragraph of text to fit into the other paragraphs. Sort of like a puzzle piece.

Typography I- Prototype

This prototype allowed each student to create their own typeface. I wish I spent more time making it a little more original, but over all I am pleased with the outcome.

Graphic Design I- Personal Geography Cognitive Map

This project is a series of three maps.
This map indicates what actions allow me to feel stress and what cause me feel ease from waking up to reaching my destination St. Edwards University.

Graphic Design I- Personal Geography Artifact Map

This project is a series of three maps.

The artifact map is pretty straight forward. It is a map that goes from St. Edwards University to my apartment Parker Lane.

Graphic Design I- Symbol Methodology

This assignment allowed me to familiarize myself with creating symbols. I realise now that a symbol, in order to be affective, has to look clean and simple at a small scale as well as a larger scale.

Graphic Design I- Illustrator Exercise, Eagle

This is my third and final exercise using Illustrator. This is my personal best.

Graphic Design I- Illustrator Exercise, Duck

This was the second exercise I completed in Illustrator. I personally like the shadowing touches that I have added on the duck.

Graphic Design I- Illustrator Exercise, My Room

This was my first exercise to do on illustrator. I do not like my color palette. At this time my concerns were focused on getting used to the tools, rather than focusing on color.
