This assignment allowed me to explore some of my forgotten hobbies, like my love for dogs. I decided to create a field guide that allowed the reader to learn what kind of dogs are found on town lake during a Saturday morning. My conclusion is that most dogs out there are mutts. I went further and decided to create a second section that allowed the reader to compare the mixed breed dog to its pedigree version.
As a group we had to create a Sandy's Burgers' Kiosk. A kiosk is a touchscreen machine that can be used to order food. Sandy's is an Austin favorite. We decided to keep the logo similar to the real logo. Also the colors we used were inspired by the background, which is a photo of a a burger wrapper. This project was the first group project ever assigned to us. I enjoyed the project but felt it would have gone a lot smoother if we worked alone.
I was required to go to East side Austin, take pictures, and come up with a concept. The concept I choice was gentrification. I felt that a lot of the culture on East Side was dissolving due to the new generation of tenants who are trying to move in. Not only is the culture vanishing but old tenants are forced to leave due to the raise in property taxes. I enjoyed this project but am not satisfied with my crafting skills. I plan on reprinting the book and saddle stitching it again so the outcome looks cleaner. The book does not look like a typical book, it opens left to right as well as right to left. The slash in the center of both pages is supposed to represent the clash between the two societies that are forced to live in one neighborhood. Image Three is a spread from the left side of the book and Image Four is from the right side.
The topic I chose was global warming. I enjoyed this project and am happy with the outcome. Mind you the colors look a lot better after I printed the poster. At first I struggled with organizing the map, but once that was decided everything else came easily.
This video was based off the East Austin postcards. Start it off by clicking on the right beer can. At first I was confused and annoyed that I had to work with Flash, but now that it's complete I am happy with the outcome. I also feel a lot more comfortable using Flash.
This series of five postcards is supposed to represent what East Side Austin is all about. The theme I choice was the drastic economical difference between classes .
I was unsatisfied with the outcome, so I decided to redue this poster. Since my concept of this poster related to the idea of progression I thought I would continue the concept by creating three new final posters. Each poster is a visually pleasing image on its own, and then when placed together the illusion of motion is portrayed.
